Prom 2017 Preview

It’s that special time of year that everyone has been waiting for. With proposals left and right the time for prom is quickly approaching. This year’s prom is going to be held on May 13th at the Syria Mosque. The theme is Masquerade ball. The prom committee led by Junior Class president, Renee Cebula, and Junior class advisor, Mrs.Katz, have been working hard to make sure that this year’s prom is a success. I was able to get an interview with Junior class Vice President and member of the rom committee, Nathan Love.

What can attendees expect from this year’s prom?

“There will be masks and it will be classy.”

What will be different this year from proms in the past

“Attendees should expect reserved tables and sit down dinner. Meals will be pre-ordered and served. Prom will be off campus two years in a row. We are hoping to make all proms in the future off campus because it will be more exciting and less of a hassle on the school.”

How much are tickets

“After fundraising we got the ticket price down to 80$ a person.”

What was your favorite part about planning prom?

“I personally enjoy the venue and the theme. The members of the committee planned a prom that we ourselves would enjoy.”

Have you heard any word on post prom?

“There will not be a hypnotist but there will be another entertainment option. There will be plenty of food and other activities for students to enjoy. Cornhole will be there.”

Any final comments?

I was disappointed with the prom fundraising from the junior class. In the future it should be enforced in order to lower ticket prices. We could also possibly involve the seniors because they are also attend prom.
