With the retirement of Mr. Abbott last year, Highlands was on the search for a new English teacher.  Luckily we were able to snag a local teacher with ties to the area.  Here is a little more about Mr. Nathan Johnson.

Where are you from?  Do you have any family, hobbies, etc.
Born and raised in central Kentucky.
I have a wife and two boys.
I play guitar.
I am a Leader for Young Life

Where did you go to college or what work experience do you have?
Clarion University & Point Park University
Taught at Woodland Hills High School prior to this.
Worked in many different fields including the U.S. Army

What attracted to you Highlands?
It is community where I live and shop and go to church. My oldest son just started Kindergarten at Fairmount.

Our motto this year is Us. Now. Highlands.   How do you see that impacting the student body?
It implies ownership. It is what we, collectively, are right now.  We’re all in this thing together. If we can function on that level throughout the school year and let it bleed into our everyday lives then I think we are winning the battle.

What are your goals for this year?
World Domination!…or just simple survival.  I want to be a safe harbor for students where some good old fashioned learning can take place.

Anything funny or special you’d like the students to know about you?
I grew up on a cattle and tobacco farm where I had no running water and had to utilize an outhouse…It was a 2-seater.
