The Highlands Basketball team recently went to Orlando, Florida to compete in a tournament. Teams from all around the nation took part in it. Highlands was there for 5 days, and played a total two of games. They went up against teams from Florida and Utah. I was able to get an interview with junior, Christian Tanilli, about the trip.
What was your favorite part about your trip?
“Going to the parks after the games and spending time with my teammates.”
Was there any special preparation done to prepare for the trip?
“Normal Preparation, we practiced just like regular games.”
Do you think the experience of the Florida trip will help the team with the rest of the season?
“Yes, It was more time on the court. We were able to see new strategies used by other teams. It also was a good experience overall for the team.”
What are the basketball team’s end of the season goals for this year?
“We are planning to win WPIAL championships and go far in states this year.”
Last year the Highlands basketball team placed second in WPIAL championships and ended up advancing to the PIAA playoffs. With the end of the season approaching, it is important that all of the students go support their fellow classmates on the court. WPIAL playoffs are set to begin in February and States will be soon to follow. From here at Rampages, we are wishing the Basketball team the best of for the rest of the season.
