I’ve been researching about Halloween and I came across some articles on myths and legend. I saw a few interesting ones and decided to research more about them. I’m going to explain 3 of these topics.

Cry Baby Cemetery

In Clarion County one of the most popular legends is about Cry Baby cemetery(St. Luke’s Triangle Cemetery). If you are unaware of this story, it is said that on most nights you can hear babies crying in the cemetery. People say the cause was from long ago. Many years ago there was a terrible plague in the area. The result of the plague led to many deaths of children and all the children were buried together. Amongst the children was a set of twins who were,  for some reason, buried on opposite sides of the cemetery. Some say the babies are crying out to find each other.

The cemetery is also known for some headstones that bleed because of all the innocent blood lot. Most of the crying is near the bloody headstones. They say the babies feel an energy and think that their twin is near. This makes everyone get a creepy feeling when they go there. Cry Baby Cemetery is located on Triangle Rd, Beaver Twp.

“Charlie No Face” / “The Green Man”

This legend is in “Zombie Land” just north of Hillsville Pennsylvania there is a legend about “The Green Man”. Legend has it, a ghostly figure with a green face walks the streets of State Route 351 between Koppel and New Galilee. This man has a deformed face and cannot see. People said that if he would catch you near him he would start chasing you.

But the truth is that a man that had an accident as a kid just wants some friends.People who have reported that they have talked to Ray(Charlie) and said that he was not a ghost but a real man, a really nice man. He had an accident in his childhood years and thats what makes him spooky.

When he was just a boy he and some friends were strolling around the neighborhood and came across a birds nest on a bridge  near 4th street. Once they had spotted the nest Ray was dared to climb up to e wires to the birds nest, which he did. When he reached the top he also reached a lot of voltage. He made contact with 22000 volts of electricity. This led his face to burn rally bad and he was expected to die. Shockingly he survived but he was so restless that he began to take walks. His appearance alerted the locals and they asked him not to walk because he would scare the kids but he compromised and took his walks during night hours so the children wouldn’t be frightened. Because of some sightings of him, people began to think that he was a ghost who walked the streets and chased people at night. Old age slowly crept up on Ray and he would walk less and less. He moved into a nursing home by the 1980’s. He passed away  on June 11th, 1985, at the age of 74. His burial was near the place that he had his accident. He was buried at Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls.

The Devils Road

The Devils Road is in Chadds Ford Pa. This road leads to a mansion and there are creepy things along the way. The legend says that the mansion is a cult house and that the creepy things are places that they did rituals. One of the most popular locations on the property is the Baby’s Cradle. The Baby’s Cradle is a tree where people believe they did sacrificial rituals. The reason they think this is because they found a baby’s skeleton in a hole at the end of the tree where roots would normally be.

Other say that when they have visited, they had seen piles of dead animal carcasses, and once they reached the mansion there was a string hung around it and the carcasses were hanging on it. They believed that the animals have also been apart of rituals.

The last main spooky thing people didn’t really see anything but they heard it. When you get close to the mansion you can hear the cult whispering and saying unrecognizable words. People have even reported seeing mysterious figures in the windows and they got a bad vibe so they turned around. That’s spooky right?

So there you have 3 of  the most popular legends in Pennsylvania. I hope you enjoyed this and get more interested about these kinds of things.
