A quick update on the Grease The Musical.  To begin,  Grease auditions were held on Thursday November 8th. Parts will be announced before Thanksgiving Break and the goal of the musical is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Highlands High School. So far, the musical has 74 students from the grades 9 – 12 who are in the musical.  However, there are 150 total students in the production (76 students are in the back making the “Magic Happen”).

The musical will debut the 2nd week of March.  The tentative dates are March 9th, 10th, and 11th.

A few fun facts:

  • The movie was directed by Randal Kleiser.
  • Produced by Robert Stigwood and Allan Carr
  • It starred John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, and Jeff Conaway.
  • Grease the movie was made in 1978 it was an American romantic comedy film. The soundtrack album ended in 1978 as the second-best selling album of the year in the United States, behind the soundtrack of the 1977 blockbuster Saturday Night Fever.
  • A sequel, Grease 2 was released in 1982, with Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer playing leads, however only few of the original cast members reprised their roles.
