Drama Club Presents An Evening With Shakespeare

Thursday, May 9th members of Highland High School’s Drama Club were a part of ‘An Evening With Shakespeare’. The staging included a sampling of monologues and soliloquies pulled from numerous Shakespearean plays. Student masters of ceremonies introduced each of the major genres of William Shakespeare’s writings along with a brief education on its characteristics.

Students then performed monologues from each of the major genres in front of an intimate audience in the High School Audion.

The simple set was adorned with artist rendered silhouettes of the seven stages of life that Shakespeare himself made popular in his play “As You Like It”.

Starting with the Comedies, moving into the Histories, and wrapping up with the Tragedies, students worked their way through the word play and drama of the Great Bard ending with a humble bow and new found appreciation for Thursday May 9th members of Highland High School’s Drama Club were a part of ‘An Evening With Shakespeare’.
